Our thirty-third meeting

What had originally looked like a rare quiet afternoon turned into a full program of great music and conversation at our September meeting. (Click here to go directly to the videos from the afternoon.)

We were delighted to meet and welcome our new members and hear them play. Barry Bull, author and public speaker and very well known to most of us from Toombul Music and early band The Counts gave lovely performances of popular Shadows tunes on his '62 Fender Jazzmaster with a gorgeous sound. Ross Jackson bass player from Mel and The Embers teamed up again with former band member, lead guitarist Barry Wirth joining drummer Darryl Wright from The Dominoes and Lester Vickary (The Dominoes/The Pacifics) for a great instrumental and vocal rock'n'roll set from members of two very popular local 60s bands.

There were lots of excellent performances from our regular members too and a great variety of tunes, finishing the afternoon with a superb performance of 'F.B.I' by John Marchingo and band with spot on sound. Another highlight of the day was the beautiful surprise Stratocaster cake that Howard's daughter, Anita specially made for Howard's birthday and very generously shared with the members.
